What is the S.L.E.D. Test?  By, Andrew Robertson

I would like to pass along this information to anyone who is interested in discussing abortion, as it offers many insights to build upon when this very important issue is tackled.

“The SLED Test is a simple argument against abortion.

The pro-life view is that the unborn are human beings just like you and me. That’s why it’s wrong to kill them. Although many abortion-choice advocates agree the unborn are human, they deny they are valuable human beings. They think this distinction justifies killing the unborn...”

"Abortion-choice advocates typically cite one or more characteristics they believe make a human being a person. Each of these characteristics fall under one of four categories. You can remember these categories with the acronym SLED: Size, Level of development, Environment, and Degree of dependency."

Help us help others By,Kathy Parsons

Life Alliance of Billerica has been working with some local pregnancy care centers in our area. Heartbeat Pregnancy Help Center in Burlington and My Father's House in Chelmsford are two centers that have had the opportunity to positively affect women by offering help and hope in choosing life, with the many services they offer pregnant women. We are reaching out to the public to help assist with their needs in order for them to continue providing these most needed services for families who do not have the means to do so.

Heartbeat Pregnancy Help Center is an all-volunteer, non-profit, free and confidential pregnancy help center founded in 1993, providing multiple services, some of which include : free pregnancy testing, confidential counseling, maternity clothing, babies needs (clothing, diapers, bottles, formula, car seats, strollers, pack-n-plays etc.), children's needs (if they have other children), and adoption referrals amongst many other services. We are seeking monetary donations for Heartbeat as it is vital to their survival in being able to save the lives of these precious children. Donations can be made directly to Heartbeats Giving Common link at  https://givingcommon.org/profile/1086846/heartbeat-crisis-pregnancy-center/,  and also available on their donor page at www.PregnancyMA.com where you can obtain more information as well.

My Father's House, a non-profit organization, was founded in 1997 by a husband and wife team looking to help young teenage girls that were pregnant without the support of their families. This remodeled Victorian home is where 8 young mothers, ages 13 to 21, and their babies live in a loving family atmosphere. The residents share in keeping their home clean, safe, and healthy. They receive life skills classes in successful parenting, independent living, child birth, new baby care, child development, nutrition, and several other practical skills classes and instruction to help these new mothers become independent. My Father's House is staffed 24 hours a day/365 days a year by those committed to these girls and babies entrusted to their care. My Father's House is currently in need of items such as: Laundry detergent for babies, paper towels, toilet paper, kleenex, clorox wipes, and laundry detergent. They are also in need of Gift Cards to Walmart, Target and Market Basket as these mothers are being taught to shop effectively while making good choices.

We, at Life Alliance, thank you in advance for all of your support in donating or supplying other necessities as it is helping these mothers obtain the support they need in choosing life for their child.
